Cellular Responses to Stress

From environmental changes to internal stimulation, cells employ sophisticated strategies to adapt and survive under stress. Different stress conditions may trigger various cellular responses which lead to temporary adaptation to stressors, autophagy, or cell death. Cells recover from mild stress, restoring the normal physiology of cells for a short time. However, accumulation of stress damage over long-term increases the susceptibility to cancer or aging-related diseases. Cell therapies and regenerative medicine are now used to ameliorate cellular stress. The knowledge of cell stress responses is fundamental in disease treatments.

This Collection aims to gain a deeper understanding of how cells face diverse stresses, offering insights into the fundamental principles of cellular response. It welcomes original research on cellular response to stress, from molecular mechanisms to disease treatment and cancer therapies.
