Geopolymeric materials: new materials, processing and gaps

Submission status

Geopolymeric materials are a class of inorganic materials formed through geopolymerization - a chemical process in which aluminosilicate materials react with alkaline activators to form a three-dimensional, amorphous, and inorganic polymer network. Geopolymeric materials exhibit cementitious properties similar to those of traditional Portland cement but with several advantages, including lower carbon emissions and improved durability, making them useful in various construction and building applications of modern times. The specific conditions, activators, and precursors used in the geopolymerization process can be adjusted to tailor the properties of the resulting material to meet specific engineering and construction requirements.

This Collection welcomes original research papers on all aspects of new materials, processing and gaps related to geopolymeric materials.

This collection supports and amplifies research relates to SDG 9.

Submitting a paper for consideration

To submit your manuscript for consideration at Scientific Reports as part of this Collection, please follow the steps detailed on this page. On the first page of our online submission system, under “I’m submitting:” select the option “any other article type”. Once logged in you can submit your manuscript to a Collection by selecting “Guest Edited Collection”, under the “Choose the appropriate manuscript type” message, and clicking “Continue”. Then when filling out the manuscript information, select the "Geopolymeric materials: new materials, processing and gaps" Collection from the alphabetical list on the “Springer Nature Subject Category” tab. Authors should express their interest in the Collection in their cover letter.

Accepted papers are published on a rolling basis as soon as they are ready.

In addition to papers on Geopolymeric materials: new materials, processing and gaps, Scientific Reports welcomes all original research in the field of Engineering. To browse our latest articles in Engineering click here.
