Toxoplasmosis is an infectious disease caused by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii. Transmission commonly occurs through contact with contaminated soil, raw or undercooked meat, or infected cat feces. While many people infected with T. gondii may not experience symptoms, those with a weakened immune system or pregnant women are at higher risk for serious complications. The most common symptoms of infection are flu-like, including muscle aches, fever, and fatigue, however in severe cases neurological symptoms and vision problems can occur. Medications such as pyrimethamine and sulfadiazine, focus on reducing activity of the parasite, however, prevention of infection through hygiene and dietary management is advised for those at risk.

This Collection will combine original research into T. gondii, with the clinical diagnosis and treatment of toxoplasmosis. It also invites the submission of studies into prevention of the infection.
