Health literacy describes the ability of individuals to find, understand, and use information to make health-related decisions. This is a vital, but often overlooked, part of healthcare and improved well-being and a major social determinant of health. Because health literacy is multidimensional, it can be addressed on many fronts, including increasing plain language health resources, combatting health mis- and disinformation, improving patient-provider partnerships, and enhancing science and cultural literacy.
This Collection welcomes original research aimed at improving health literacy from both personal and organizational perspectives.
