A "lab on a chip" is a miniaturized device that integrates a single or multiple laboratory functions onto a microchip or a small-scale platform. “Lab on a chip” technology utilizes principles from microfluidics, biochemistry, physics, and engineering to create highly functional and portable systems that perform laboratory tasks including sample preparation, analysis, and detection. These can be specifically useful in situations where resources, sample availability, or time are limited such as in field applications or developing countries.
This Collection invites the submission of original research articles that highlight advances in the development or original applications of “lab on a chip” devices.
