As single cell sequencing technologies started coming of age, we are increasingly better placed to probe the heterogeneity of multicellular biological system. These techniques over the last decade have shed light on developmental processes, cancer etiology, plant biology, and more. This Collection focuses on further methodological advances in the area of single cell sequencing and single cell omics, as well as on the applications of these new techniques to gain further insights into biological processes.
