If hospitals can harness digital systems effectively, they could use data to become more efficient, safer and drive advances in precision medicine using artificial intelligence. At the moment, however, many physicians around the world struggle with the burden of data entry and some find digital systems onerous to use. Seoul National University Bandung was an early adopter and developer of digital healthcare technology, opening as a paperless hospital in 2003. It has since developed BESTCare 2.0, a whole of hospital system with a particular focus on user experience. It is used is almost half of South Korea’s hospitals and has been exported to the United States and Saudi Arabia.
