Of all the things we know in our universe, the human brain is the most complex; with 100 billion neurons - each connected to 10,000 others – mapping it out in its entirety is a colossal task. Nevertheless, the field of connectomics seeks to do just that, for the human brain, and a range of model organisms’. Having a complete map of the brain will provide new insight as to how the brain functions in healthy individuals as well as how the physiology of the brain is affected by disease, and with advances in both information storage and imaging technology, substantial progress has been made in recent years.
This Collection invites original research focused on the mapping of neuronal connections, as well as the development of related tools and methods.
