The Future Science Prize is the first privately funded science prize jointly established by scientists and entrepreneurs. It was established in 2016 by the Future Forum, a non-profit organization based in mainland China.
The prize has three award categories: life science, physical science, and mathematics/computer science. The prize aims to recognize scientific breakthroughs that have long-term significance.
Regardless of the researcher’s nationality, the nominated work should have been completed primarily in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan. Each prize carries a monetary award of ¥6.5 million (approximately USD$1 million).
