Do you own or have you made a piece of art inspired by teeth? The covers currently gracing Volume 214 of the British Dental Journal showcase 12 works of ‘Tooth Art’.

The first cover was published on 12 January 2013 with Gina Czarnecki's ‘Palaces’, an ‘evolving’ sculpture created using thousands of baby teeth donated by the public. This was followed by ‘Purse with teeth’ – perhaps quite apt for the recession! – by US-born surrealist artist Nancy Fouts.

The following covers, as pictured here, run from an unlikely Valentine's gesture, through tooth jewellery, a ‘tooth mug’, a tooth under construction, a smile zipped into stone, famous faces etched onto teeth, one way to treasure your child's baby tooth, to a piece of Mediterranean tooth art for the practice, a surreal skull and a toothbrush that definitely evokes a double take.
