In the initially published version of this article, ref. 47, originally Stauber et al., Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 103, 2788–2793 (2006), was cited as first revealing the crystal structure of the IL-2/IL-2 receptor complex, but the citation should instead have referred to an earlier paper by Wang et al., Science 310, 1159–1163 (2005). The reference and the timeline in Figure 1 have been updated to reflect this change in the HTML and PDF versions of the article.
