Dibromoolefin S7 had been previously synthesized by Morisaki et al. (Morisaki, Y., Luu, T. & Tykwinski, R. R. A One-Pot Synthesis and Functionalization of Polyynes. Org. Lett. 8, 689–692 (2006)). Their synthetic route was followed with a few modifications to prepare dibromoolefin S7.
