Perspective on 1st International Symposium Advanced Genitourinary Reconstruction & Urologic Prosthesis course at the University of Chicago Medical Center

Intriguingly, the field of genitourinary reconstruction including urologic prosthesis has been ever-evolving and developing over the past decade with the aim to improving patients’ quality of life, optimizing post-malignancy survivorship and outcomes [1,2,3,4,5]. However, as our urologic community including urologists, trainees, and allied health providers are emerging from the post-COVID pandemic, there has been an unmet need to enhance, improve, and refresh our advanced urologic and surgical knowledge and skills to harmonize our professionals and practices with the recent advances in this rapidly developing urologic subspecialty. Not to forget the clear advantages and longing of “in-person” human interactions and case-by-case live surgery moderation and discussions [6].

The 1st International Symposium Advanced Genitourinary Reconstruction & Urologic Prosthesis live surgery course is a specialized event focused on the field of urology, specifically on advanced genitourinary reconstruction and urologic prostheses. The symposium brings together international experts in the field, including urologists, reconstructive surgeons, and researchers, to share their knowledge and experience [7,8,9].
