Mr Dickens missing teeth

The celebrations at Christmas owe a lot to the Victorians, as we hang up our stockings for the children's presents and decorate the Christmas tree. It is a time when the books by Charles Dickens and A Christmas Carol in particular, experience a resurgence of interest.

But it was almost six months after dismantling the decorations from last year that I noticed this unusual headline in The Times: 'For Charles Dickens it was the best of times …. But the worst of teeth'.
