I was born and raised in Tanta, Egypt. I attended primary, secondary, and high school in Tanta. In 1999, I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Tanta University, Egypt, with excellent grades and an honors degree. I conducted a 1-year internship at Tanta University Hospital, which is the largest tertiary hospital in Tanta; it is also where I spent my pediatric residency from 2001 to 2004. I finished my master’s degree in pediatrics in 2004 and my MD in 2011. In addition, I received a trainee fellowship position at the Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, Mangiagalli E Regina Elena in Milano, Italy, with a focus on performing pediatric and fetal echocardiography (2009–2010) under the supervision of Prof. Anna Maria Colli. I became a lecturer of pediatric cardiology at Tanta University in 2011, and I have served as an associate professor of pediatrics at the same university since 2016. Currently, I am the head of the pediatric cardiology unit at the Children’s Hospital at Tanta University Hospital, Egypt.

I have dreamt of becoming a doctor to help sick people since my childhood, but the decision to become a pediatrician was made during my training as an intern in the Tanta University pediatric department. I love working and communicating with children; therefore, I decided to become a pediatrician to reduce children’s suffering and restore their smiles.

I gained an interest in pediatric research when I became a lecturer of pediatrics at Tanta University. My fields of interest are pediatric cardiology, pediatric endocrinology, and pediatric gastroenterology. I have a passion for research; it pleases me greatly to conduct research that can make a difference in the field of medicine. I have cosupervised over 50 master’s and doctoral theses related to pediatrics. I have published more than 48 studies in several peer-reviewed international journals. I also serve as both a reviewer and an editor for several peer-reviewed international and regional journals. I received a Best Reviewer Award from the Publons website in 2017 and 2018. I also received the Tanta University Award in the field of science and medicine for the 2018–2019 academic year.

Prof. Anna Maria Colli, Prof. Amr Zoair, and Prof. Osama El Razaky were my mentors, and they helped me greatly on my journey. I am also grateful to my husband and my parents for their unlimited encouragement, support, and love. My advice to young researchers is to dream, to believe in their abilities, to work hard to achieve their dreams, and never give up.
