Response To Dr. Kumar: Cord milking in preterm

First of all, we would like to thank Dr. Kumar for his comments [1] about our paper.

Effectively, International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) recommends against the routine use of cord milking for infants born before 29 weeks of gestation (as we specify in the discussion), outside of a research setting [2]. In our study, the median gestation was 29 weeks and the results should obviously be applied to similar samples. We note that in <29 w there was a non-significant protective tendency towards intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) with umbilical cord milking (UCM) vs immediate cord clamping (ICC) (28 vs 12%, p:0.237).
