The Society for Pediatric Research Awards

E. Mead Johnson Award for Research in Pediatrics

This award was designed to honor and recognize outstanding scientific contributions and attainments in research related to pediatrics.

Each of two recipients will receive an honorarium plus travel expenses to the annual meeting where recipients will present their research.

Eligibility for the 1997 award:

  • Nominees must have received their last doctoral degree in 1977 or later.

  • Limited to investigators in the Americas.

  • Research must be related to pediatrics and published recently, perhaps coming to fruition or attaining recognition during the past few years.

Receipt Deadline: December 6, 1996

Student Research Award; House Officer Research Award; Fellow Basic Research Award; Fellow Clinical Research Award

These awards were designed to encourage pediatricians in training to pursue careers in academic pediatrics.

The awards are presented to the recipients at the annual meeting. There are up to three awards in each category. Applicants are judged on a first-authored abstract submission.

Receipt Deadline: January 6, 1997 (with abstract submission)

Richard D. Rowe Award in Perinatal Cardiology

This award in perinatal cardiology was established in 1989 by colleagues, trainees and friends of Dr. Rowe to honor his many personal achievements, commitment to academic excellence, integrity and humility.

The winning candidate is selected on the basis of both the quality of the work presented in the abstract and the information contained in the sponsoring letter.

The award is presented at the annual meeting.

Receipt Deadline: January 6, 1997 (with abstract submission)

Young Investigator Award

This award was designed to honor and recognize young physicians as they embark on a career in investigative pediatrics.

One award per year is presented that provides an honorarium plus travel expenses to the annual meeting where the recipient will present his/her work.
