Abstract
This paper discusses the mechanical properties of syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene with 25-% crystallinity in relation to the unrecoverable strain, stress relaxation, and orientation properties under large deformation in the range of melting temperature from 30 to 90°C.The following results were obtained:(1) The mechanical properties of the stretched films obtained by large uniaxial and biaxial deformations depend mainly on two factors: A) the ambient temperature during the stretching, and B) the types of deformation.(2) This dependence may be ascribed to the molecular orientation of the amorphous chain and some type of disintegration of the crystal structure; the orientation of crystal axes seems to be contribute little for such a polymer with a low degree of crystallinity.
