CPEB binds to the CPE of mRNAs to regulate their translation and localization. Interestingly, the mammary epithelium of CPEB heterozygous mice was found to be disorganized, which coincided with the mislocalization of the tight junction protein zonula occludens 1 (ZO1) from its normal apical position to lateral regions of mammary epithelial cells.
