A typical experimental procedure is given for compound 4a. ¹H NMR (400.13 MHz, CD₂Cl₂, 30 °C): δ 7.71 – 7.33 (m, 22H, ArH), 3.25 (bm, 8H, Alkyl-CH), ³¹P{¹H} NMR (162.0 MHz, CD₂Cl₂, 30 °C) δ 46.9 (s, J_P-Pt = 3231 Hz). ¹⁹F NMR (CD₂Cl₂, 376 MHz) δ -129.16 (m, 4F, ArF), -133.34 (m, 4F, ArF), δ -150.89 (s, 8F, BF₄). HRMS (ESI): m/z calcd for C₄₀H₃₀ClF₈P₂PtS₂ [M-2BF₄+Cl]⁺: 1018.0473, found: 1018.0527. Single crystals suitable for X-Ray studies were grown by slow diffusion of diethyl ether, layered on top of a dichloromethane solution of 4iin a NMR tube.
