A typical experimental procedure is given for compound 4a. ¹H NMR (400.1 MHz, CD₂Cl₂, 30 °C): δ 8.03 - 6.74 (bm, 20H, ArH), 3.48-2.37 (bm, 8H, Alkyl-CH), 2.14 (bs, 6H, Alkyl-CH), 2.03 (bs, 12H, Alkyl-CH) 1.70 (bq, 12H, alkyl-CH); ³¹P {¹H} NMR (162.0 MHz, CD₂Cl₂, 30 °C): δ 45.3 (s, ¹J_P-Pt= 3120 Hz). HRMS (ESI): m/z calcd for C₄₈H₅₆ClP₂PtS₂ [M-2BF₄+Cl]⁺: 990.2791, found: 990.2729. Single crystals suitable for X-Ray studies were grown by slow diffusion of diethyl ether, layered on top of a dichloromethane solution of 4f in a NMR tube.
