Abstract
How cells maintain their overall shape and size, and the related questionof how proteins and other molecules reach and stay at their specific subcellularlocations, are among the most difficult and exciting problems in cell biology.Three recent studies have made a significant contribution to this area byidentifying new proteins, called LAP proteins, that have critical functionsin maintaining the shape and apical-basal polarity of epithelial cells.
