  1. Haggerty Professor at Rockefeller University and a pioneer of protein engineering—died July 18 of complications following a kidney transplant. He was 50. Among many more important distinctions, Dr. Kaiser was a member of Bio/Technology's board of scientific advisors. The editors mourn the passing of a great scientist, a good friend, and a man we much admired.
