I cannot remember ever reading a veterinary textbook from cover to cover upon receiving it. How-ever, this is exactly what I did with Frances Harcourt-Brown's Textbook of Rabbit Medicine. Paul Flecknell, a respected British laboratory animal veterinarian and anesthetist wrote in the book's foreword, “Until relatively recently, much of the information on rabbit health and diseases related primarily to those animals bred for meat or kept in research laboratories. This new publication represents a major advance in meeting the needs of those practitioners seeking comprehensive clinical information on pet rabbits.” I totally agree with him.
