Animal activity proposals

In this article, Pinson discusses key considerations in the writing and review of animal activity proposals. He then describes a framework for developing and writing clear animal activity proposals that highlight animal welfare concerns. The recommendations in this article are aimed at individuals writing and reviewing research proposals. This framework, however, can be modified for other types of animal activity proposals.

Weight loss and weakness

Over a period of 1 year, two vervet monkeys at the Delft Animal Facility of the South African Medical Research Council developed weight loss, general weakness and anorexia. On clinical examination, both monkeys were found to have generalized lymphadenomegaly. In the What's Your Diagnosis column, de Villiers and Seier describe these two cases and discuss the diagnosis.
