Envigo appoints new CFO

This past June, Envigo announced that Patricia Henahan will take over as Chief Financial Officer. Henahan has extensive experience in pharma and has held leading roles at Hospira and AstraZeneca Group company iPR Pharmaceuticals. “I am delighted that Pat has decided to join the team at Envigo,” said Brian Cass, Chief Executive Officer. “Her background in pharmaceuticals and experience across the R&D process will bring valuable insight to our strategic planning as we continue to position Envigo as a leading provider of contract services and research models globally.”

New leaders at the AAVMC Leadership Academy

The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) has selected Karen Cornell and Darcy Shaw to head up the organization's Leadership Academy. Established in 2012 to help support leaders in academic veterinary medicine, the Leadership Academy trains veterinarians in key leadership skills, including management, conflict resolution and advocacy. “It's vitally important that we actively cultivate leaders who can inspire and motivate others and who have both the practical skills and the vision to lead academic veterinary medicine into the future,” said AAVMC Executive Director Dr. Andrew T. Maccabe. “Drs. Cornell and Shaw are exceptionally well qualified and we're very pleased to have them engaged with this key AAVMC program.”

A new vice president position at JAX

Jackson Laboratory named Kenneth Fasman as their new vice president for strategic initiatives. The newly created position is meant to help grow and foster JAX's expanding collaborative research projects in the US and abroad. “Ken is uniquely qualified to help us to drive the Laboratory's long-term growth while accelerating our mission to advance human health. He brings deep experience in science project management, understands organizational dynamics and is familiar with our unique academic culture and community”, said JAX president and CEO Edison Liu. “In his new role he will focus on key strategic initiatives such as the collaboration with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, which Ken helped us to orchestrate, as well as integrate our campuses in Maine, Connecticut and California”. Fasman has had multiple advisory roles at JAX, including for the Genetic Resource Sciences group.

Allentown welcomes two new product specialists

Mike Sidelsky and Pete Willan have joined Allentown as product specialists, focusing on several product lines in North American and European markets. Willan (left) has been involved in lab animal science for 40 years, working as a technician and facility manager. He has been involved in facility designs, relocations and refurbishments, among many other duties. With over 50 years of experience, Sidelsky (right) has worked at several institutions, including the Wistar Institute, Cephalon Incorporated, and previously at Allentown. Sidelsky has also served as president of the Delaware Valley branch of AALAS.

Careers update

Dr. Jane Sykes was appointed Chief Veterinary Medical Officer at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH). As one of the largest and most advanced veterinary hospitals in the world (50,000 patients per year), Sykes will be responsible for the management and fiscal integrity of the hospital, as well as the academic clinical services. “I am so thrilled to support our team of talented and caring clinicians, staff, and students to bring cutting-edge veterinary care to animal owners throughout California and beyond,” said Sykes. “This is an exciting time for our hospital, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have this opportunity.”
