Abstract
We report here the results of a search for neutral hydrogen absorption in the spectrum of 0957 + 561. This source consists of two quasars with similar optical spectra and Mg II absorption redshifts, and an extended region containing most of the radio flux. We place limits on the optical depth of intervening hydrogen of 0.02 and 0.23, depending on whether such hydrogen covers all of the source or only the compact components.
