Composition waves in iron-doped rutile and the relationship between Young's modulus minima and crystallographic shear orientations

Abstract

Three types of long-wavelength sinusoidally modulated crystallographic shear boundaries in reduced rutiles are described. These transverse composition waves represent oscillations within an elastic strain energy potential well produced by the pronounced Young's modulus minimum along k (010).
