New human embryonic antigen and its presence in some adenocarcinomas

Abstract

IMMUNODIFFUSION methods have identified several embryonic antigens in tumour extracts or in sera of patients with primary cancer of the liver1–3, colonic adenocarcinoma4–6, testicular and ovarian teratoblastomas7,8, carcinoma of the pancreas9, chorionepithelioma of the uterus10 and testicular chorioncarcinoma11, nephroblastoma12 and adenocarcinoma of the ovary13,14. We report here the use of monospecific antisera to identify a new embryonic antigen in human foetal sera and in some adenocarcinoma extracts.
