Colchicine inhibits mitogenesis in C1300 neuroblastoma cells that have been arrested in G0

Abstract

CELLS in G1 or G0 usually progress through the cell cycle and stop in metaphase when colchicine is added to the growth medium1–6. I have observed, however, using two different experimental techniques, that mouse C1300 neuroblastoma cells reversibly arrested in G0 by serum limitation7 are unable to re-enter the cell cycle in the presence of colchicine.
