Abstract
PROLACTIN, like other polypeptide and glycoprotein hormones from the pituitary gland, exerts its effects on target cells through interaction with receptors on the plasma membrane1–4. Unlike several other pituitary hormones, this does not occur through activation of adenyl cyclase5, and the mechanism of action of prolactin must therefore lie elsewhere.
