Abstract
TROPHOZOITES of the protozoan Acanthamoeba castellanii (Neff) possess at least two distinct RNA polymerase activities which can be separated by DEAE-‘Sephadex’ A-50 chromatography1. These enzymes show optimum activities at different magnesium, manganese, and salt concentrations. Polymerase fraction I is also inhibited by cycloheximide, while polymerase fraction II is affected by rifampin and α-amanitin.
