Abstract
THE death of the giant panda (‘Chi-Chi’) at London Zoo on July 22, 1972, provided an opportunity for examining the visual pigment of this rare species (Ailuropoda melanoleuca David, 1869). An eye was removed as soon as possible after death, and kept in darkness in a freezer. The following observations were made in Sussex between July 25 and 27.
