On the Redshifts of Galaxies

Abstract

THERE have been several investigations of possible parts in the redshifts of galaxies which are apparently not due to their radial systemic velocities1–7. In most of them the correlation between redshift and magnitude has been studied. To obtain more information about the nature of the possible redshift effect, other parameters should be studied. I have made a preliminary study of the redshifts of galaxies in clusters, groups and pairs in respect to type, magnitude and peculiarities of the galaxies. Systematic differences between the redshifts of different types of galaxies were found. I wish to report here some further data on the redshifts of galaxies with respect to their types, magnitudes, diameters, colours and inclinations.
