Sensitivity of Fish ATPases to Polychlorinated Biphenyls

Abstract

IN spite of widespread concern about the possible hazards of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)1–11, little is known about the physiological action of these materials. We have therefore examined the effect of PCBs on the ATPase enzyme system, which is known to be sensitive to chemically similar compounds such as DDT12–18.
