Human Digits in Organ Culture

Abstract

LIMB bone rudiments of avian and mammalian origin have been cultivated in vitro1–4 and their response to vitamins, hormones and other agents is well documented. So far, however, there has been only one report of human rudiments maintained in organ culture5; a coagulated medium was used in these experiments. A technique for growing human digits in a fluid synthetic medium containing serum is described here.
