Fossil Mammal Locality on Mount Elgon, Eastern Ugand: Lower Miocene Fossils from Mount Elgon Uganda

Abstract

An important new fossil locality of Miocene age has been discovered near Butwa on the north-eastern slopes of Mount Elgon. The long list of fossils described here by Dr Alan Walker includes mammals, aquatic reptiles, birds and potamid crabs. The fossils are placed in their geological setting by Dr P. W. G.
