Abstract
ANTHRANILATE synthetase (ASase) catalyses the first specific step in the biosynthesis of the amino-acid tryptophan, the formation of anthranilate from chorismate and glutamine1. The activity of this enzyme is subject to feedback inhibition by the end product of the pathway, L-tryptophan2.
