Thermal Convection in the Archaean Crust?

Abstract

IN an article by Talbot1 he compares two models for a tectonic pattern typical of undisturbed remnants of the Archaean crust. The discussion concerns the map of Rhodesian Archaean structure published by Macgregor2, which implies that all the granite batholiths shown are of the same age and type, an assumption used by Talbot as a basis for his argument. There is reason to believe that the granites are not all of the same age, type or structural environment.
