Resonant Perturbations of Existing Satellites

Abstract

WE are engaged in a detailed study of the geopotential resonant perturbations on the orbits of eighty-three existing satellites. These eighty-three near-resonant orbits were found by one of us (C. A. W.) after examining approximately 1,000 entries in the Satellite Situation Reports of the Goddard Space Flight Center (NASA) for April 15, 1968. Table 1 summarizes the results of a more recent detailed study for a few well known satellites.
