Abstract
MANY amino-acids in crystalline form have been shown to act as efficient ice nuclei1–4. Schaefer5 observed the nucleation of ice at a multitude of points on a protein monolayer at a temperature very close to 0° C and suggested that such a monolayer may be a very efficient ice nucleus.
