Abstract
OROTIC acid, like vitamin B12, increases the RNA1 and free nucleotides2 in the liver of chicks deficient in vitamin B12 and stimulates the incorporation of phosphate labelled with phosphorus-32 into these structures3. More recently, a significant increase in the incorporation of 3H-formate into RNA of subcellular fractions of liver and into acid-soluble free nucleotides has been found in chicks treated with orotic acid4.
