Transient Changes in the Radiosensitivity of Mammalian Cells on Transfer from in vivo to in vitro Culture Conditions

Abstract

CONDITIONS of culture are well known to play an important part in determining the radiation response of micro-organisms. Mammalian cells grown in vitro only remain viable within a rather limited range of culture conditions and, perhaps for this reason, only a few reports are available of the radiobiological consequences of changing their culture conditions1–3.
