Abstract
As part of a wider investigation of Crustacea in this laboratory1, we have been seeking a method for removing hermit crabs from their “host” shells without damaging them. The generally recommended methods—application of heat, immersion in deaerated water, exposure to fresh water, etc.—have not proved particularly satisfactory for our purposes.
