New Structure in the Electron Spin Resonance Spectrum of γ-irradiated Single Crystals of Ice

Abstract

ELECTRON spin resonance spectra obtained here for single crystals of ice, γ-irradiated and measured at 77° K, show structure not previously reported for the resonance near g = 2, which is generally assumed to be due to OH radicals. Earlier work by other authors has been directed mainly to the investigation of polycrystalline ice1, except for a report2 giving results on single crystals rather different from those reported here, and a recent communication3 published near the end of these preliminary experiments.
