Isolation and Identification of Poliovirus from a Clinical Specimen

Abstract

AT present, the isolation and identification of viruses from clinical specimens is a slow, expensive and tedious process1,2. Modifying a technique previously described3, we were able to isolate and identify in three rapid and relatively simple steps a prototype virus from a sample of faeces seeded with a known quantity of polio virus.
