Abstract
B-PROPIOLACTONE has been reported1–4 to be a potent but slowly acting carcinogen in vivo. In an investigation of the effects of this agent on rat fibrocytes cultivated in vitro, treated cells were found to undergo a particular sequence of structural alterations which culminated in cytological malignancy. This sequence of changes appeared to be directly related to the process of carcinogenesis.
