Abstract
BOTH fasting and induced hypoglycaemia are powerful stimuli to secretion of growth hormone in man1–3, but the effect of prolonged starvation on secretion of growth hormone is unknown. It has been suggested, on indirect evidence4, that secretion of growth hormone is impaired in chronic malnutrition.
