Electrical Conduction in Chlorpromazine

Abstract

WE wish to report some further results on the electrical properties of 10-dimethylaminopropyl-2-chlorophenothiazine, commonly known as chlorpromazine. Previous work1 indicated this substance to be a semi-conductor with an activation energy of 2.1 eV and a d.c. resistivity of 1.3 × 1011 ohm-cm at 16° C. These data referred to a slab cast between platinum electrodes. Other workers2, using guard ring circuitry, obtained a resistivity of 1015 ohm-cm for single crystals of chlorpromazine grown from ethyl ether solution.
