Abstract
CLINICAL experience indicates an association between cardiac disease and psychological factors1. However, until now there has not been any definite evidence of such an association. Experimental approaches to this problem have been made by means of neurological and psychological methods. One approach is the examination of the cardiovascular repercussions following ablation or stimulation of the areas of central nervous system which play a part in the regulation of emotions. The second approach is the investigation of the cardiac reactions to psychological procedures, such as conditioning, conflict, emotional stress and experimental neurosis.
